the guest rooms
Casa Luna offers quiet, comfortable accommodation in the heart of vibrant Amsterdam. Built in 1616, this historic canal house contains an art gallery, library and two private guest rooms perfect for visitors passionate about art and culture.
Casa Luna is steps away from the Anne Frank House, striking West Church and Dam Square. It’s well located for the Nine Streets shopping district and Jordaan with its trendy restaurants and al fresco cafes.
Both guest rooms are on the first floor with private bathrooms and accommodate a maximum of two people each. The Canal Room enjoys picture-perfect views over the Leliegracht (the Lilly Canal) while the Patio Room looks out over a quiet courtyard. Both rooms double as artist studios for painters, writers, researchers and other creative types. It’s for this reason that neither room contains a television!
The Canal Room is 5,50m x 6,00m, including the bathroom and a small entrance hall. Among its unique features, there is an Italian design Loyd Loom bed and cupboard and a Maroccan Mosaic table. The mirror in the entrance hall is a Dutch design from Piet Hein Eek. The bathroom is made after a design of the owner, Maud Verbruggen.
The Patio Room is 5,70m x 3,00m with a bathroom from 1,10m x 3,00m. You will find an original 18th century mantelpiece (Utrechtse schouw) and a large mural painted in 2008 by the Dutch artist Willem Schouten, inspired by the 17th century etching 'gezicht op Haarlem' (view of Haarlem) from Ruisdael. The bathroom, also a design by the owner, is decorated with Jerusalem stones and Hebron glass, brought from Negev, Israel.
Continental breakfast is offered between 8.00 and 11.00 at a separate restaurant located only two doors further along the canal. The cost is 6.50 euros per person.
